Scicasts is a media-tech company that connects science professionals and decision makers to a dynamic network of critical information, new ideas and thought leaders.

Why Scicasts?

Our core team started their careers as scientists who faced the common challenges faced by thousands of their peers around the world. Particularly in keeping up with the vast, daily flow of scientific news, industry reports, sector-specific trends and key developments.

Our strength is through our in-house technology, R&D and in-house staff reporting. With Scicasts, we connect the key science and technology sectors using a distinctive approach that saves our audience time and money from searching and subscribing to multiple publications and news sources.

In addition, we employ an engaging participatory news model through a selected community of contributors from world-leading and reputable analyst firms, trade associations and institutions.

Our Ethics

At Scicasts, we conduct our reporting on all companies, research institutions and individuals with strict independence, fairness and without bias.

Free Access

What drives us is a simple principle: Facilitating knowledge facilitates innovation.

For this reason, all of our content and online events are free and fully accessible without any subscription fees.

We are big supporters of open science and we are moving away from the one-size-fits-all approach applied by many of our competitors. We put our readers in charge!

By harnessing the power of social media, we operate a fast growing network that brings the most trending and original content to thousands of readers around the world.

Our Management

Tim El-Sheikh - Founder / CEO

Tim founded Scicasts in 2006, which he built from a concept that was born in his student flat. Scicasts.com was launched as a beta service in November 2009 and has attracted over 500,000 users within two years. In 2011 the company launched its full release of Scicasts, including its marketing services and Scicasts Resource Library. In 2012, the company launched Scicasts TV and Scicasts Live.

Tim has been working with the Internet since 1994, originally as a biomedical scientist implementing web-based bioinformatics tools and data management systems, then as an online multi-tier systems developer and architect. His particular interest was in building online communities (aka social networks), especially on mobile devices during the WAP era. This allowed him to explore opportunities in his other key interests, which include online publishing and interactive media.

In 2003, he co-founded OBBeC.com, one of the first online Bio-IT and Biotech trade magazines in the world, now part of Scicasts. His key role as publisher was to build OBBeC's business and connect it with world-leading institutions, analyst firms and corporations. During the same period, he also founded deSciner.net – the first Ad Network in the world that is dedicated exclusively to scientific sectors – in partnership with Adify Corporation. This network currently generates over 49 million monthly impressions through its member publishers.

Outside business, Tim dedicates a lot of his time working with local communities and schools teaching Capoeira. He co-founded the first ever Capoeira club in the UK Midlands region in 2001 and performed in many high profile theatrical and public events, including a featured performance for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee visit to Leicester City.

Teacha Hamilton - Editorial Director

Teacha is a former biomedical scientist with a unique diversity of knowledge and experience in bioresearch, molecular biology and clinical trials of new cancer drugs. During her career in pharmaceutical sciences, she developed a particular interest towards the financial and the business side of biotech and Bio-IT sectors. At this point, she shifted her career towards computer sciences and business, where she worked in academic projects involving building database systems and user management systems for vertical online communities.

In 2003, She co-founded OBBeC.com, one of the first online Bio-IT & Biotech trade magazines in the world, now part of Scicasts. As the Editor-in-Cheif, her key role was to build OBBeC's extensive and authoritative content to serve an international audience of business leaders. Her editorial work focuses on covering the key advancements in today's science and technology research and development, as well as covering new emerging markets and trends. She joined Scicasts in 2009 to define and construct the company's editorial and events strategy.

Outside business, Teacha is a devoted mother and a keen photographer.

Philip Allan - Finance Director

Philip is a former academic publisher with over 30 years experience in the industry, where he ran his own publishing company that served both scientific and academic sectors internationally. He believes that web-based publishing is the future for the specialist scientific community, and Scicasts is leading the way in this field.

Philip joined Scicasts in 2012 as the company's Finance Director, where he provides key strategic insights to Scicasts that play a vital part in driving the business forward. With his extensive knowledge and experience in the publishing market, Philip brings to the table invaluable input in defining new strategies for expanding Scicasts' portfolio of media products and services, as well as the company's worldwide knowledge network.

Outside business, Philip likes skiing, sailing, and he dedicates a lot of his time to charity.
